Description
John Clifford
10 minute comedy
1 man, 1 woman
Olive is having a terrible day. A major project has been canceled, a root canal is in her future, and the last thing she needs is an unexpected visitor interrupting her work. Then Stan walks through the door, mistakes her office for a senior dating service, and promptly decides she’s exactly the person he wants to meet. No matter how many times Olive tells him to leave, Stan counters with optimism, humor, and a steady stream of outrageous observations. The verbal duel becomes increasingly hilarious.
What begins as an unwelcome interruption slowly becomes a conversation about aging, loneliness, companionship, and the courage it takes to reach out to someone new. Beneath Stan’s playful persistence is a genuine understanding of the challenges older adults face when looking for connection. As Olive’s defenses begin to soften, both discover that they may have more in common than either expected.
Olive is a strong woman with a fun character arc, male older actors find Stanley’s charm, flirtations, and attempts to win her a delight to bring to life on stage.
I still get more comments on John Clifford’s plays than any others we’ve done. They are funny, warm, wise and compassionate. Senior Theatre director
