Basil Melnyk
10 minute comedy radio play
1 man, 2 women, 1 either
About the play: The Radio Show is a play within a play set in a radio station studio. Angry at having to work together, the guest actor and actress go off script. The kisses she used to give him are not the only things these two have faked. A fun show with a twist!
About the playwright: Born in 1947, Melnyk is the oldest of three brothers. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army and served a tour in Vietnam as a rifleman with the First Infantry Division. After discharge from the army, he worked as an engineering professional while attending night school for nine years to obtain a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and later, a Master’s in Business Administration. He then worked as a mechanical and electrical engineer for manufacturing companies until his retirement. Later, he and his wife bought an RV and have been touring the US and Canada, as well as visiting 90 countries around the world.
Melnyk and his wife have been in several community theatre productions and have also sung in multiple choruses, including performing five times at Carnegie Hall in New York City. This is Melnyk’s first play. The Radio Show has been read with multiple groups throughout the US. He hopes you enjoy it!
