1 man, 6 women, plus 12 either in flexible cast
Scrooge with a Twist is a playful, self‑aware spin on the classic Christmas tale, told with a knowing wink and a sense of mischief. An older man auditioning to play Ebenezer Scrooge finds himself swept—sometimes protesting loudly—into the familiar visits from narrators, choruses, and meddling spirits who refuse to let him off easily. As the story keeps interrupting itself, the question becomes less about what happens to Scrooge and more about whether this one is actually capable of changing. Funny, candid, and surprisingly pointed, the play suggests that redemption later in life is possible—but only if you’re willing to be challenged by others and called on your nonsense. The audience becomes part of the story, reacting, judging, and playfully weighing in as Scrooge’s fate unfolds. Can be performed as Readers Theatre.
