About the play: Set during the early hours of the Apollo 11 moonwalk, Miss Ida’s Man-in-the-Moon Yard Sale follows an older woman as she busily prepares for a yard sale while talking directly to her unexpected audience. What begins as fast-talking charm and neighborhood gossip gradually unfolds into a vivid life story marked by beauty, hardship, romance, grief, and resilience. As Miss Ida recounts her journey—from small-town Missouri to Florida, from heartbreak to hard-earned independence—the humor gives way to startling truths she has never spoken aloud. By the time the sale opens, the monologue reveals how survival, choice, and memory can coexist with warmth, wit, and a steady appetite for living.
