Bruce Boeck

Bruce Boeck has been in love with theatre since childhood, when weekend matinees in downtown Chicago opened the door to a lifelong passion for storytelling. After writing a first script on a yellow legal pad—just to see if it could be done—Bruce was delighted to have it accepted into a local 10‑minute play festival. That single “what if?” moment has grown into a vibrant writing career spanning more than twenty years.

Today, Bruce has written over 100 plays, most of them short, energetic, and character‑driven pieces. Many have been produced in 10‑minute festivals, community theatres, and readers theatre groups across the country. His plays illuminate the humor, humanity, and little surprises that live inside ordinary situations.

In addition to writing, Bruce teaches playwriting and champions the essential role of playwrights in the creative process. Inspired by the idea that “We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams,” Bruce crafts stories that invite actors and audiences alike to laugh, imagine, and connect.
