Phyllis Greenberg and Charlie Levy are seniors who live in neighboring apartments. Every night Greenberg dances to the Victrola alone in her apartment while Levy reads the newspaper in his. But tonight is different. As she does a snappy dance, he hums along and taps to the beat. The sounds of Glenn Miller prompts Levy to his feet as both dance in their own living spaces. But when he hears Fred Astaire singing “Cheek to Cheek,” Levy waltzes to a closet, retrieves an old army uniform, and knocks at Greenberg’s door, where he mimes, “May I have this dance?” After a few tentative steps he is whirling her around the floor and before long the couple is dancing cheek to cheek. Sweet, visually interesting show that you and your audiences will love!

My husband Al and I performed Sgt. Levy’s Lonely Hearts Club at a variety show twelve years ago when we moved into a senior community. People still stop us all the time on the street to tell us how much they enjoyed it, and ask if we’re going to do it again.” — Joanne Underwood, Mission Viejo, Calif.
