2 hour comedy
4 men, 6 women
A group of former performers—two feisty sisters, a once-dashing leading man who can’t remember his lines, a “man of 999 faces,” and a mystic whose visions never seem to land—have lived
together for decades in the Ophelia L. Davis Home for Actors, a fading 1920s mansion in Burbank. After the death of their friend and benefactor Ophelia Davis, they face a dire crisis: mounting taxes they cannot pay and a greedy attorney, Ben McAllister, eager to seize the property for profit.
When Sarah, Ophelia’s granddaughter, unexpectedly arrives, she offers a glimmer of hope, but also brings legal complications and a looming deadline that threatens to leave them all homeless. As tensions climb, rumors of a missing lottery ticket hidden among Ophelia’s belongings spark desperation, deception, and competing schemes, especially as Ben and his accomplice nurse plot to claim it for themselves.
Refusing to go quietly, the aging actors do what they do best: perform. Using disguises, clever tricks, and a flair for the dramatic, they turn a simple rummage sale into a chaotic and hilarious showdown that blurs the line between real life and theater. But just when everything seems to hinge on that elusive ticket, unexpected truths about Ophelia’s estate, and one final act of generosity, shift the outcome in surprising and satisfying ways.

“Old Hams” was a big success! Everyone raved about it and it got a lot of laughs, which was great. People are still telling the cast how excellent they were. Thanks for a great script! — Eileen Gallant
