Jules Abrams, director of the Return Engagement Players, has been in more than one hundred plays. While still in High School, Jules traveled to Broadway to study acting. He then became a professional actor with the Madcap Players, a stock company in Dallas, Texas. Later he was seen in many community theatre roles and performed at both Northern Virginia Community College and at Wayne State University. While at Wayne State, Jules met a student teacher named Robert Clymire, a published and produced playwright, who taught Jules the art of playwriting.
Jules hosted a radio talk show for three years on WIID in Garden City, Michigan during the early 1970’s. After that he started writing and directing his own plays.
Jules began work in Senior Theatre in the mid-nineties when he volunteered as the director/playwright for the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring, MD. He taught a basic acting class called Investigating the Actor’s Craft at American University’s Learning in Retirement program. Since then, Jules has worked at three senior residences performing plays that have delighted audiences.
Jules belongs to the Playwrights Forum and is a member of the Writer’s Center, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and the Arts Council of Montgomery County.
