Bara Swain serves as Abingdon’s Playwriting Outreach Coordinator and co-producer of Abingdon’s Benefit Challenge Series in New York City. Her writing is informed by the debilitating illness and premature death of her husband. She explores love, loss and disability with a sense of humor.
Bara’s plays and monologues have been performed in venues across the country in many states, including the Lyric Theatre, Potluck Productions, Salem Theatre Company, City Theatre, Theater Works, Flint City Theater Festival, Dubuque Fine Arts Festival, Stage Door Productions, Theatre Under the Stars, and Jewish Women Theatre Workshop. NYC venues include the Barrow Group, Abingdon Theatre, Sam French OOB Festival, Artistic New Directions, Ego Actus Productions, Stage Left, 15 Minute Play Festival, The Network, Kaufmann Theatre, T.A.R.T.E., Aching Dogs, and the Turnip Theater Featured Writer Series. Recent: 48 and Rachel Holds Court, FAB Unframed at Barrow Group; Aboard the Guy V.
