Reatha Thomas Oakley
15 minute comedy
2 men, 3 women, 1 either
Holly’s true love is a little overly enthusiastic about proving his devotion by following a checklist of one dozen perfect Christmas gifts. From the first day when she receives a partridge in a pear tree, to the twelfth day’s twelve drummers drumming, Holly never surrenders, triumphant at the end, despite having an overwhelming number of birds, dancers, maids, and pipers. Not to mention the ten leaping lords. You’ll never sing this song again without thinking, “who would think this is good thing to do to someone you care about?”
What they’re saying about this show:
– “Very jolly Christmas short play, easy to do as Readers Theatre!” – Pam L.

About the Playwright: Reatha Thomas Oakley comes from a family of Southern storytellers. She wrote, directed, and starred in her first play in the fifth grade and since then, she’s been involved in community theatre as an actor and director, and is an award-winning playwright and author. About this play she shares, “I wanted to capture the way people interact in the small village atmosphere of a 55+ community and all the wonderful and absurd situations that develop there. In this play, Holly is like many women in such a community who not only survives but thrives when faced with the unexpected.”
