Jo Rake
7 minute comedy
1 man, 1 woman
About the play: It’s David and Janet Riley’s wedding anniversary and David has forgotten–again. No plans, no gift, nothing. And this year is a ‘big’ one. After 40 years of marriage, Janet knows David all too well so she has made plans–a trip to Hawaii. Now, she just has to convince David that it’s the perfect anniversary gift.
About the playwright: Jo Rake’s first theatre role was as Mary in a first grade Nativity play. More interested in singing and dance, it took many years before Jo found her way back to the stage, but she has been a theatre devotee ever since, both on the stage as an actor and behind the scenes as director, stage manager, costumer, board member, and performance judge. Jo is a founding member of The Hourglass Players, a ‘travelling’ Senior Theatre company that performs at senior residences and living centers. She began writing plays for HGP using the antics of her family and neighbors as well as just her imagination as inspiration. In ‘real life.’ Jo is a mostly retired CPA.
Anniversary was first performed by The Hourglass Players at The Woodlands in Burnet, TX.
