Writers’ Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in ArtAge Publications’ Senior Theatre Resource Center. We are always interested in adding plays to our collection.

Currently, we are accepting plays on a rolling basis.

Before submitting your play, here are some key things to ask yourself:

  • When you wrote your play, were you thinking specifically of the needs of older actors? While some roles are cast by a range of ages, plays that do best are written specifically with older roles. Successfully performed shows have senior, or mostly senior, casts.
  • Does the play portray older people who are active, feisty, and living interesting (if sometimes precarious) lives?
  • Do the roles challenge performers, yet are fun to play?
  • What is your run time? Senior Theatres perform plays and musicals of all lengths, but short shows which run up to 20 minutes are the most popular.

Here are some helpful resources.

We look forward to reading your work!

Thanks, as always, for the commissions! I tell many people about ArtAge and how you’ve made my play available for downloading and performance. Thanks so much! Bill Doody
