Bonnie's Column

Awaken the joy of creative expression with theatre classes! These sessions, filled with laughter and camaraderie, help students express themselves. The blend of creative drama, improvisation, and the written word not only teaches about theatre, but also about life.

For those who need more concrete reasons for Senior Theatre classes, a growing body of knowledge demonstrates a clear link between active engagement in theatre and slower declines in cognitive and physical functioning.

Since many theatre companies paused during the pandemic, classes are a marvelous way to re-start. They will re-energize actors who need to freshen up their skills. Best yet, classes will renew connections between students.

No matter how much teaching experience you have, our newly revised TipSheet, Teaching Senior Theatre Classes, will give you fresh ideas and sound advice. Discover the tips, tricks, and techniques that I've used successfully over many years of teaching senior actors. It will help you be up and running in no time at all.

I find that teaching older actors is the most creative, stimulating, and enjoyable thing I've ever done! I love to watch in amazement as actors experience miraculous transformations. It brings me great joy knowing that I am guiding others on their journey as Senior Theatre teachers.
