From Liberace to Madame Chaing Kai-shek, Christine Gentry has entertained around the world. At age 87, she’s finally made it to network television as one of the contestants on NBC’s, Second Chance: Search for America’s Most Talented Senior which aired June 1, 2003.
Christine taught herself how to play piano at age 4. Since then music has always been an important part of her life. She developed a splashy ragtime/jazz sound. It helped propel her to lead performer at national conventions around the country. In fact, whenver the Holiday Inns opened a high rise, they turned to Christine as the headline act. She traveled the world going from one performance to another.
Two years ago, she broke her wrist and the Doctor said, “you many not be able to play again.” Christine simply replied, “Oh, yes I will.” And she has.
Christine is a fixture in her local community of Florence, Alabama and is frequently called upon to perform for benefits, charity and retirement facilities like Merrill Gardens. Watch for her trademark pearl and rhinestone glasses when she, “uses her music to make others happy”…this time on national television.
