The Salt Lake Senior Theatre (SLST) is part of the rapidly growing national Senior Theatre movement that encourages mature adults over age 55 to perform on stage. The group is sponsored by the Academy of Performing Arts, a professional theatre that offers classes, performances and dance for people of all ages.

The mission of the Salt Lake Senior Theatre is to create a positive image of aging by using theatre to build intergenerational bridges within the community. The Salt Lake Senior Theatre provides educational opportunities for mature adults through a variety of classes, performances, and outreach into the community.

The Artistic Director of Salt Lake Senior Theatre is Pat Barnett. She is also the Musical Director for the Academy of Performing Arts. She studied at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, with Dr. Alan Woods and Dr. Joy Reilly, pioneers in the development of the Senior Theatre movement. She is a member of the Senior Theatre League of America.

Pat has a passion for performance and has worked in the business for more than 20 years. She has sung professionally,  modeled on the runway, and is a professional actress in films and commercials. She thrives on live theatre, having performed most recently as a very creative Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, as the infamous Madame Giry in Phantom of the Opera, and as the frightening Fruma Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof.
