Celebrate Creativity!
The Pacific Northwest Arts and Aging Forum
Seniors are expressing themselves through fine art, writing, music, theatre, and other expressive mediums in greater numbers than ever before. There’s a new understanding of how the arts are both enjoyable and scientifically proven to improve older participant’s health. The upcoming Pacific Northwest Arts and Aging Forum will teach techniques, provide tips, and inspire more work in arts and aging.
The forum will be held on Saturday, April 28 on the Marylhurst University campus from 8:30 AM to 4 PM in the Flavia Hall Salon.
The keynote speaker is Bonnie L. Vorenberg, a nationally recognized expert in Senior Theatre. Bonnie is the author of many books and articles, has been featured in Time Magazine, CNN, and has worked with NBC and VH-1.
Panel discussions and exploratory hands-on workshops will be lead by teachers who instruct seniors in music, art, writing, theatre, and arts administration. Performances, fundraising how-to, and information tables will be featured. Participants will learn more about the new Pacific Northwest Arts and Aging Network.
For a complete schedule, see below. Food will be provided; the cost is only $10.
The Forum is sponsored by Marylhurst University, Marylhurst Gerontology Association, Mary’s Woods, Oregon State Council for Retired Citizens, ArtAge Publications, and the Pacific Northwest Arts and Aging Network.
